The Great Horned Owl is a large, adaptable bird of prey easily recognized by its yellow eyes and prominent "horns," which are actually tufts of feathers called plumicorns. Often nicknamed the "tiger of the sky," this powerful predator uses silent flight and exceptional hearing to hunt a varied diet ranging from small rodents to large mammals like skunks.
